Projar was founded in 1983 by Alejandro Faus in Valencia, Spain. The company started producing substrates for fruit and vegetable growers. It was not until the 1990s that the company saw an increasing demand of coir products, which had shown to be an excellent medium for soilless growing or raw material for the composition of growing media.
In the first decade of the 21st century, Projar started to export coir fiber products worldwide in order to satisfy the growing demand from farmers across the globe.
This was why the company decided to strengthen its presence in Sri Lanka by setting up its own factory in 2008. Moreover, the company established strategic alliances with other local coir fiber producers in India. In our facilities in Sri Lanka we produce coir-based blends for agriculture and a whole range of coir products including Grow Bags, Easyplanters, blocks and other coir based products.
